Our Services

Our primary services fall into three board areas:

  • Professional and organizational development and learning
  • Local agency governance and strategy
  • Agency and not-for-profit financial management

Professional Development

We provide adult-based learning in critical competencies for local government managers and executives: leadership, resiliency, communication, managing change, teambuilding, interpersonal relations, strategy and purpose, process engineering and reimagination, and customer service. For new supervisors and managers we offer a customizable 12-session practical workshop “Contemporary Leadership Practices in Local Government.”

We work with our clients to create and personalize classes to meet the learning needs of the agency and the participants. Courses are engaging, thought-provoking, and build on the experience and expertise of the participants to expand their capacity to better serve their communities. The focus is always on providing tools participants can immediately use in their work. The resources below provide an overview of how we can help you and your staff. Contact us for detailed information on any class, or other professional development needs your agency has.

Local Agency Governance

Our practice specializes in facilitation and development of local government governing bodies: boards of supervisors, city councils, special district boards. The facilitative work we do with boards includes: building the practice of governance amongst the members; strategic thinking about the purpose, vision and desired outcomes for the board and agency; and helping boards work through difficult situations. We have included an example of our typical approach to workshops with governing boards.

Governing Board Workshop Description and Agenda – Our approach includes individual interviews with the elected members and senior executives, research and a workshop focused on the needs of the members and organization.

Financial Management

We assist agencies and their not-for-profit partners with financial management and compliance with local, state and federal requirements. Often our work is helping organizations set up financial and accounting systems and processes to bring them into compliance with regulations. Please contact us to discuss how we can assist with your financial management needs.
